A free outdoor concert is the perfect way to enjoy a summer evening in the northern Atlanta suburbs. The cities of Sandy Springs, Roswell, and Norcross offer their summer concert series scheduled on various Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings throughout the summer months. The casual settings in area parks make these family friendly events. Patrons are encouraged to come early with their own blankets and chairs to enjoy a picnic on the lawn. Here are the upcoming schedules.

Concerts by the Springs are held at Heritage Green in Sandy Springs. This 4-acre park with its amphitheater and events lawn is a gathering place for the community. The gates open at 5pm, so plan to arrive early with a picnic. Concerts are scheduled from 7-8:30pm. Enjoy the party band sound of Swingin Medallions on June 17 and bluegrass music from Smokey s Farmland Band on July 1. The GLOW Band, a 7 piece performance dance/show band, is scheduled for August 5, and the high energy group Banks & Shane will perform on September 9. Heritage Green is located at 6075 Sandy Springs Circle.

Roswell s Riverside Sounds concerts are scheduled from 7-9pm on the first Saturday of the month from May-October at Riverside Park. Concert attendees should take the free shuttles to the park from satellite parking lots at Azalea Park, located at 203 Azalea Drive, or Don White Park, located at 925 Riverside Road. The July 7 concert will feature hits from the 70s by Yacht Rock Revue. Enjoy music by the Brandon Giles Band on August 4 or the bluegrass sounds of The Black Lillies on September 1. On October 6 enjoy The Lee Boys, an African American gospel group with a blues-based beat.

Norcross has free concerts in the park every other Friday night during the summer. Concerts are held from 7:30-9:30pm at the Thrasher Park Amphitheater on Thrasher Street. Attendees may bring their own blankets and refreshments, or tables and chairs are available for rent. The kids can enjoy the park s playground before the concerts begin. Listen to some classic rock with The Woodys on June 8 and a Bruce Springsteen tribute concert by Bruce in the USA on June 22. Party to the sounds of The Ruckus on July 6 and enjoy a Rolling Stones Tribute Show by Satisfaction on July 20. Moby Dick is scheduled on August 3, followed by A-Town, A-List on August 17. The season concludes with A1A, a Jimmy Buffet tribute band, on August 31.
